The London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony Best Dressed List
In my life time, I have seen about 10-Olympic Opening Ceremonies -that’s Summer and Winter combined. It’s always interesting to see what each country wears and who designs what! It’s such a big deal really and perhaps a lot of money is invested in the designs, which probably make their way to museums after or not.
Sometimes though, some countries opt to wear traditional attire or go with the usual air hostess look of skirt suit and suit and tie, which can get boring. Though this year, I’m impressed to see some countries break away from the dowdy look of the suit by taking bold approaches to the use of color, and design. Most of all each country did not dress in their flag colors.
So after watching the spectacle and dazzle of the very ‘Green and Pleasant’ (theme of the London 2012 Olympics) Olympic Opening Ceremony, here is our best dressed list!
**********THE LIST***********
BEST DRESSED HEAD OF STATE
Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. The Queen’s choice of a soft light pink velvet dress with feathers in her hair.

BEST DRESSED COUNTRIES (OVERALL)
BRAZIL-Loved the way they brought back the mini-skirt for the girls. Plus, the use of the flag colors green and yellow was genius!
CHINESE TAIPEI -It was a perfect pairing of what appeared to be navy and lilac monochromatic jackets and a gold and black crest.
POLAND -I loved the sateen swoop hemmed cropped jackets and printed florals on the women’s dresses! Definitely fit in with the Olympic Opening Ceremony theme of English Countryside.
SWEDEN -The land of Ikea’s rugby style stripes in their national colors and grey bottoms was a very jovial and bold approach, which I’m sure many appreciated.
TOGO -I’m having a print season in my wardrobe and I went nuts to see their green, yellow white and black traditional print shirts!
TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO -It was a breath of fresh air to see stripes of blue and white cascading down the women’s red dresses!
UNITED KINGDOM – The choice of Gold & White definitely brought honor to the UK as this year celebrated the Queens 60th Jubilee. The uses of metallics on the shoulders were definitely space-age like and reaffirmed the UK it’s position of being a trend setting country.

BEST DRESSED (MEN)
UZBEKISTAN -It’s very rare to see brown suit with white shirt and tie in point collar!
