Get the scoop on episode 2!
Aug 12, 2012
Episode 2 of the hot and happening new series will follow MTV VJ Sizwe Dhlomo (winner of the first previous MTV Base VJ Search in 2005) as he introduces us to some of the young hopefuls from the Durban auditions earlier in July. Celebrity judges Bonang Matheba, HHP, Azania Mosaka and Tim Horwood also rock up to give some insights on what they are expect from an MTV VJ, while hip hop trio Teargas also makes an appearance to hang out with fans and to lend their support to the auditionees.
With the national callbacks of the nationwide talent search within their grasp, the Durban candidates are prepared to pull out all the stops to make it through to the next stage. But the competition is fierce: make one slip and you're out! There are just ten slots to fill and the MTV Base producers are watching every move…
The ultimate winner in the MTV Base VJ Search will win a life-changing job and become MTV Base's first new South African VJ since 2006 – hosting their own show on MTV Base and featuring on Club 808, e.tv's top music programme.
Among the contestants to watch out for are Scelo Gumede, a 25 year old media and communications student at UNISA who has previously auditioned for two previous MTV Base VJ Searches.
Identical twins, Precious and Pretty Zondo (20) are also keen to make it through. Precious is studying cost management accounting while her sister is a catering management student. Will their 'makubenjalo' attitude (which means 'let it be so') help them get through to the next stage?
Twenty year old Zintle Gama has always done everything with her stepsister Hazel, including studying at the University of Johannesburg and setting up their own fashion label. Both girls are going to audition but will both of them make the cut?
To watch the highlights of the Durban auditions and to check out who makes it through to the next stage, tune into the 2012 MTV Base VJ Search on MTV Base on Tuesday 14 August at 20:30 CAT and on e.tv on Saturday 18 August at 18:05 CAT.
